how to take your samples

Urine samples

Who?

These instructions are for people who have received a male self-sampling kit.

Where?

Follow these steps to take a urine sample.

Why?

We use the urine sample to test for chlamydia and gonorrhoea.

Before you start

Please check all the sample tubes in your kit for a use by date.

You must collect your samples before the earliest date found on any of the tubes for us to be able to test them. If you are unable to collect your samples before this date, you must request a new kit.

Even if you can't take all of the samples, please return your kit. We will test any complete samples which you return to us.

Remove the lid from the tube with the yellow label. You'll need this at step 4.

Pee into the urine collection pot provided, first part in the collection pot and the rest in the toilet.

Use the pipette to draw up some of your urine from the collection pot.

Squeeze the urine into the tube, filling up between the black fill lines.

Screw the lid back onto the tube tightly. Do not pierce the foil cap of the lid.

Write your name and date of sample collection on the tube. Then take the numbered sticker (labelled urine) from the request form and attach it to the tube.
